Chartreuse || Interior

Chartreuse: It's not green, and it's not quite yellow. In fact, it's has a subtle 'dirty' look about it, and yet it's the most beautiful colour i think i've ever come across. I'm fascinated by it; i own clothes and accessories in Chartreuse, my room incorporates accents of the colour, and my nails are very often reminiscent of the French liqueur it was named after. Some might say i was a little obsessed, and i wouldn't disagree with them...

...But as much as i revel in this colour, i'm a firm believer that a little goes a very long way. I admire those who have the confidence to decorate all four walls in Chartreuse; it's a very bold statement to make in your home. But I, on the otherhand, love crisp white walls and flooring. It's fresh and clean, and gives plenty of scope to play with different colours through the furnishings. Take an all-white room, and add a Chartreuse sofa in the middle - it draws you to the sofa, giving that wonderful pop of colour without being garish, because quite frankly, this isn't a colour that suits everyone's taste.

Chartreuse is the perfect compliment to the 70s retro inspired decor that i find myself pinning on a daily basis, and i'm always on the lookout for mid-century style chairs in this colour or similar. The colour was fashioned into wallpaper and carpets decades ago adding that look of sophistication.

The idea of having a fridge or a bathtub in this colour green shows i'm not afraid to be bold and have a bit of fun with colours in general, and demonstrates my my love for using unconventional interior designs; everyone loves to put a unique stamp in their homes, and i can certainly see this colour doing just that in my own place.

Unless you're totally 'out there' and not afraid to go OTT with the Chartreuse, i'd suggest keeping it low-key, even if you are as obsessed with the colour as i am. I fall victim to falling in love with a colour then all too often, 10 months down the line, i loath it. I certainly don't want to give up my love and fascination with this colour, so i'll maintain my peace with a couple of scatter cushions here and and a few ornaments there.

  1. I didn't know this colour had an actual name! I would have described it as a neon mustard yellow colour to someone. The drawer knobs are very pretty so is the blanket in the last picture. Hope you're well and we'll speak soon xxx
